The new series of 450/550 continuos rope layers with outside take-up represent the latest in SIMA research and applied expertise for the manufacturing of rope.
The machines work on the two-for.one twisting principle, both in stranding and rope laying, and have been especially designed to meet the following objectives:

  • High production capacity
  • Low power consumption
  • Limited maintenance work
  • Wide flexibility in stranding and rope laying
  • Start - stop functions by remote control
  • Tailor-made solutions upon request

Being state of the art machines, many new computerised features have been incorporated which allow, through a display conveniently located on the control panel, all essential information regarding Input/Output State, machine parameters, output, maintenance to be carried out and problems arising, among others.

A significant instrument is the automatic overload detector, which continuosly controls the draw of the capstans. In case of an over-draw, the machine is automatically shutdown, protecting all mechanical parts from an eventual breakage. A soundproof system has been also incorporated as part of the machine design.

In the strand section the 450 rope layer has a special design for holding the bobbins in horizontal position, allowing:

  • Easier handling during bobbin changes.
  • Increased tension on the yarn, consequently lowering the balloon while the machine is in operation.

On the other hand, the 550 rope layer continues to hold the bobbins in vertical position, but with an improved design eliminating some mechanical parts, thus allowing an easier handling of the bobbins than the previous series machines.

The remote control operation of the machine is one of the gadgets we are proud of. The operator can start or stop the machine, without going to the control panel, controlling the rope layer timely and effortless.

The display will enable the personnel in charge of production control as well as the operator to have accumulative and current data of the machine at the touch of a key. A special alarm displays, by means of icons and messages, eventual problems identified by the sensor located in "strategic" positions of the machine.

So, when thinking about reliable, safe and silently operating continuos rope layers, remember the new series of 450/550 machines from SIMA. Technically the SIMA machines are at the vanguard of the world rope making technology, meeting the most sophisticated requirements of any customer.
